Interactive workshop on tools for analysing climate projections, uncertainty quantification and visualization for climate change adaptation

Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Building 101, Room S01
May 22, 2018 (10-16)

eSACP (eScience: Statistical Analysis of Climate Projections) is a Nordic collaborative research project, which provides open source tools that allow decision-makers, engineers and scientists from all fields to better utilize the extensive repositories of observations and climate model data as well as recent methods for uncertainty quantification in climate science.

This workshop, which aims to bring together practitioners and researchers, will present key findings of the eSACP project, including

  • Probabilistic projections of sea level rise (Norwegian Computing Centre and Danish Meteorological Institute)
  • Storm track projections (Finnish Meteorological Institute)
  • Decision-support for uncertainty quantification and decision-making on coastal adaptation (Norwegian Computing Centre and DTU)
  • Visualization and data processing (Norwegian Meteorological Institute)

Participants will be introduced to and discuss some of the tools advanced within eSACP through a number of parallel interactive sessions, where they will be able to test the tools and methodologies either on their own laptops or through interactive demonstrations, where they will be directly involved.

Confirmed sessions include:

  • ESD (Empirical Statistical Downscaling) – an R package developed by Norwegian Meteorological Institute
  • Are you sure, you want to do this? Interactive session on coastal decision making under deep uncertainty

The workshop is open to practitioners from all sectors, students and researchers. Participation is free of charge and will include lunch and refreshments.

Program to appear soon.
