Predictors of sub-clinical enterovirus infections in infants

Medical examination of baby Enterovirus infections are common, although most often sub-clinical. The present purpose was to assess the impact of breastfeeding and other factors on enterovirus infections in infancy.

Prismodellering og risikostyring for råvaremarkeder

NR startet allerede i 1994 et samarbeid med Hydro i forbindelse med at den nordiske energibørsen NordPool ble opprettet som første internasjonale råvarebørs for elektrisk energi. I tillegg til Hydro har vi blant annet jobbet for E-CO Energi, Agder Energi, NTE, Point Carbon EGL Nordic AS, Stakraft og Statnett de siste årene. Dette har ført til at NR har opparbeidet en solid kompetanse på modeller som simulerer og lager prognoser for elektrisitetspriser, og vi har også utviklet prismodeller for andre råvarer som gass, olje, korn og ferrosilisium.

Privacy Matters - PriMa

PriMa stands for Privacy Matters and is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network funded by the EU and Horizon 2020.

PriMa will train a next generation of researchers to define, investigate and implement solutions that ensure secure and efficient privacy protection whilst keeping the advantages of a digitalised society. The PhD students in PriMa will work on the analysis of privacy risks stemming from the digitalisation of society, the protection of privacy against these risks, and the impact assessment of proposed privacy protection solutions.

Prospect risking using CSEM data

We develop Bayesian methodology for integrating the use of controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) data for exploration. We compute the probability for hydrocarbon presence based on the information in the CSEM data. The method is fast compared with Bayesian inversion techniques, and avoids inversion for the complete resistivity model it computes the chance of hydrocarbon presence directly. The method utilize that CSEM data from hydrocarbon reservoirs and brine filled reservoirs will have different signatures. The methodology adapts to the local geology.

Recovery from acidification

Acid rain and other acid deposition are serious environmental problems that affect large parts of the industrial world. Rivers and lakes that are exposed to acid deposition may become acidified if they are not naturally protected with for instance limestone rock that are able to neutralise acid.

I dette prosjektet utarbeides to versjoner av et og samme nettsted: den ene digitalt tilgjengelig og universelt utformet, og den andre utilgjengelig. Nettstedet kan brukes til ulike formål, men blant annet som målestokk i brukertester, derav navnet Referanse-nettsted. Vi fant imidlertid et enda bedre navn:

Reliability analysis of reverse vending machines

TOMRA's reverse vending machines are very reliable. Yet, the machines may on rare occasions stop. In cooperation with NR, TOMRA has investigated the occurrence of these stops using reliability analysis.

Removal of clutter from historical scanned documents

An innovation project led by Lumex A/S and partly financed by the Norwegian Research Council, aims to improve optical character recognition in noisy historical documents. The goal is to develop solutions that will be able to detect, locate and characterize clutter and then apply adapted OCR to regions containing clutter. The clutter can be related to tears, cracks and aging of the paper of the documents, or stamps and annotations that have been deliberately introduced. Ink smears and blobs from the printing process are also frequent.

Vedvarende utmattelse er et svært vanlig symptom ved revmatisk sykdom og en rekke andre sykdommer. Det finnes få fullgode tiltak mot vedvarende tretthet, men ofte er det nødvendig med en tverrfaglig tilnærming, hvor aktivitetsregulering kan være et av flere tiltak.

Risikostyring for ikke-finansielle selskaper

Produksjonsbedrifter er utsatt for mange ulike typer risikofaktorer: Salgsvolumer endrer seg over tid, valutakurser, rentenivå og priser på råvarer og ferdig produkt svinger og energikostnader er volatile. Til sammen kan dette gi store svingninger i resultatregnskap og balanse. Tradisjonelt har bedrifter enten forholdt seg til forventningsverdier for risikofaktorene, og dermed ignorert risikoen, eller man har sett på ”worstcase”-scenarier.
