July 2011

  • 22.7.2011: Bombing in Oslo and youth killed at their annual camp are a tragedy for Norway. A Norwegian right extremist is the criminal behind the murders. We mourn the deaths - young girls and boys, students, civil servants - and we promise to help defend the Norwegian democracy, the open society we have built, based on solidarity, justice and respect for all cultures, races, religions. There is no space for xenophobia, racism, hate for the others, in any form, around us.

The country has reacted with dignity and solidarity, facing the difficult times in communion. No-one at (sfi)2 has been hit directly by the terror, but everybody is going through hard times. An important decision that the country has taken is not to paralyse, but to continue to work. We let life not be disrupted beyond the immediate effects. Therefore we have decided to continue with the planned activities, including the(sfi)2 meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee. (af)

Speach of Crown-prince Håkon, 25.7.2011, in Norwegian

The topics covered will include: Statistical inference in epidemics; Risk management; Guidance and policy; Novel applications. Deadline for early registration is 14.2. 2011.
